Peace Day was a VHS release by the rock band Children of the Anachronistic Dynasty. It is the earliest known live video recording of Maynard James Keenan before he joined Tool.

It consists of the band's only known concert, performed on public access television on April 17, 1987 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It marked the first appearance of the band's quintet line-up, consisting of Maynard James Keenan (vocals), Kevin Horning (lead guitar), Todd Horning (rhythm guitar), Stan Henderson (bass, occasional backing vocals), and Tom Geluso (drums). These members, with the exception of Henderson, also performed in Maynard's first band, TexA.N.S.

One highlight of this show is their performance of "Burn About Out", which features some of the same lyrics as one of Tool's first well-known songs, the 1993 single "Sober". This video has always been one of the most elusive Maynard rarities out there. Years of people bogarting their collections have made it almost impossible to find anywhere but ebay and youtube. You can also download their two albums, Fingernails and Dog House, from my other site 'tool militia' over at groups.myspace.com/toolbootlegs . I hope to have a FLAC version of Fingernails added soon.

All apologies to MJK, who sports a black leotard, sandals, and a mullet throughout the show. Maynard of course went on to chop the mullet and form Tool, thereby un-gay-ifying any past glam-rock indiscretions. Although Maynard would probably prefer this video never see the light of day, it has become a piece of rock history and therefore requires a permanent home at The Tool Archive. If anyone has access to a higher quality version of this video, please let me know. All versions suffer from relatively low quality as it was originally taken from a VHS.

Setlist:

All songs written by Maynard James Keenan and Kevin Horning, unless noted.

1. "If A Friend" - 3:25 (Keenan/"MMM"/"Doug"/"Tom")
2. "Surprise" - 3:07
3. "Waiting for the World" - 2:33 (K. Horning/Tex Porker)
4. "Wait Now Cry Now" - 5:14 (Keenan)
5. "Burn About Out" - 3:12 (Keenan)
6. "25 Hours" - 3:03
7. "Mandango Lover" - 3:26
8. "Interview w/ Maynard" - 1:52

Faaip de Oiad - The Original Art Bell Call Uncut

Ever wonder about that creepy voice on Faaip de Oiad, the closing track to Lateralus?

While many have heard the story, few have heard the original call before Tool got their genius all over it. Here is it - the full version that never even made it onto most radio stations. This is the most complete version known to exist:

www.zshare.net/download/626834495ecb4452

Here is the story behind the call:

Art Bell is a late-night radio talk show host who broadcasts a show about various paranormal subjects ranging from aliens to ghosts and other unexplained phenomena.

On September 15, 1997, Bell opened a phone line for people working for Area 51 so they could call him and "spill the beans." One bizarre call was from an obviously distraught and terrified man who claimed to be a former Area 51 employee recently discharged for "medical" reasons. He cited malevolent extraterrestrials at Area 51 and an impending disaster that the government knew would take out "major population centers."

Midway through this call (according to GE engineers) the satellite's "Earth sensor lost lock" and the craft rolled into a latitude where it no longer pointed at the uplinks, causing 50 channels to go off-air for about 30 minutes. Shortly after the outage began, the live internet video feed from Art's studio was lost as well. Unaware of these events, Bell continued talking to the caller for another minute during the outage until he heard a scream and the phone went dead.

One of the first callers after the outage was someone who claimed to be from Area-51 "security." He said that his job was to "close gaps," the network had been "pulsed" and that we "would not hear from the caller again." More information on this can be found at:

http://web.archive.org/web/19980129105824/http://www.nacomm.org/news/1997/qtr3/abarea51.htm

Later someone called and claimed that they were the mystery caller and that it had just been a prank, however the callers voice is said to have been noticeably different than the original caller. While the real reason behind the outage may never be known for sure, Bell has noted that in all his years of radio he can not recall a single similar outage.

Free Tool Bootlegs

groups.myspace.com/toolbootlegs

The Tool Archive will be dedicated to collecting, openly sharing, and preserving only the rarest of Tool related audio and video in as high quality as possible for historical purposes. To download free bootlegs of the not-so-rare variety, I will be keeping my bootleg site 'Tool Militia' open at groups.myspace.com/toolbootlegs

Check it out for a ton of bootlegs. Joining the group is optional. Members will receive periodic updates as stuff gets added. My links have been copied and shared all over the internet and on many other sites. I'm cool with this, I only ask that a link to my site is given with them so people can check out the source.

welcome

This site is dedicated to creating a historical archive of Tool and its members. It will be an ever growing collection of rare demos, videos, interviews, and bootlegs spanning their entire careers, including bands such as Children of the Anachronistic Dynasty, TexANS, and ZAUM.

Check back often, as I plan on putting some extremely rare stuff up. Some of it I've only now found after years of searching, and is still near impossible to find online. Bogarting is lame. And it puts money in the hands of eBay bootleggers. Ticks and leeches. Please don't pay for Tool bootlegs. Download them from me for free.

Enjoy the site.
